And I do not see any foreseeable significant change in the next decade. Interactive whiteboards? Ereaders? Not in elementary. I can't even hook up my computer to my Elmo because 1. the screen is on the opposite side of the room, and 2. there are no connections to link them. The entire school needs to be re-wired. If I am to enrich the minds of my children, I either have to bring my own laptop from home, or do without.

I've been wishing for a simple classroom set of ereaders. I am totally behind putting them in students' hands. I hope to retire in 2015, and I know I'll never see those ereaders before then.

In 10 more years, when today's Kinders are about to graduate high school, who knows where today's technology will be? And how much further behind will education be stumbling?Linda Mooneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08716113962079486972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1771568637549009442.post-76671193079506076682012-01-27T22:45:05.652-06:002012-01-27T22:45:05.652-06:00Paul, The founder of my Son's school forwarded...Paul, The founder of my Son's school forwarded this post to me as I'm working with her school on several technology initiatives and we've been discussing the innovations Apple just released for iBooks 2.

- Textbooks are becoming effete. The online world transforms by maximizing the breadth of knowledge available to teachers and students. This transformation occurs at the speed of light bringing today's information from “The Cloud" as knowledge sculpted into the hands of teachers as they help students learn how to learn while imparting the didactic and pragmatic rudiments of curriculum to students.

Great teachers innovate, integrate, and stimulate the student's insatiable appetite for learning. Regardless of the derivation of information the teacher, ultimately, is responsible to teach the student how to think.

Technology makes things happen more quickly -- Why not carry this logic through to our children?

You can follow me on Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/jodyresnick1Jody Resnickhttp://www.trighton.comnoreply@blogger.com
