And the Rest of Our 100th Day of School Activities

Some of my students did an excellent job on their 100th Day posters.

One of my students even celebrated his birthday that day!

Of course, we decorated our doors. This is mine. There are 20 cards, each with the word WOOF! written on them 5 times.

And then there are those teachers who went all-out to celebrate the day.

More 100th Day Activities

Wanted to pass along more stuff we did for the 100th Day of School. At each table, I had the students draw/color 10 objects on ten cards.

Each table had different colored index cards.

Then they glued the cards on sentence strips for a neat math display.

Our 100th Day Activities

We celebrated the 100th Day of school today, and below are some of the activities we did to commemorate the day.

#1 - Stack 100 cups, to see which team could build the tallest tower.

#2 - 100s Chart Puzzles
To see who could put all the puzzles together the fastest.
(I originally posted about this here.)

#3 - Put together a 100-piece puzzle.

#4 - We covered 10 ten frames.

#5 - We placed popsicle sticks in tally mark formations so that they added up to 100.

100s Chart Puzzles

Getting ready for the 100th Day of School, I wanted to do something different than what I've done in past years. I found this 100s Chart online, and ran off five copies on the same color tag. (If you click on picture below, you'll get a larger version you can save and print yourself.)

I then cut each sheet in different ways, so that each one was an individual puzzle. Here's what one looks like put together.

And what it looks like cut apart.

One of my stations will be for the children to work together to put all five puzzles together.

Today Was Our 100th Day of School!

We started our day with everyone wearing their 100 Days t-shirts. Kudos to my assistant, Loretta, for doing the shirts!

Our day was thrown out of kilter because of the parade through school, and all the other activities. So I kept our "festivities" to one major activity - the 100 Toppings Pizza.

Each of my 5 tables was giving a color of construction paper and a "topping" (yellow for cheese, white for onions, black for olives, green for bell peppers, and brown for hamburger). They had to "make" 20 toppings, then come and glue them to the pizza.

We hope your 100th Day of School is memorable!

Happy 100th Day!

From One Hundred Days glasses, to One Hundred Days snack,

making a One Hundred Days necklace from Froot Loops,
and a One Hundred Days pennant to wave during the parade,

and, finally, being in the parade with your homemade One Hundred Days t-shirt and poster.

We had a fabulous day!

100th Day of School

We just celebrated our 100th Day of School (75 more to go! YES!).  If your school celebrates the momentous day, you're probably being inundated with ideas and suggestions for activities you can do with your students.  I'm not giving you a suggestion.  I'm giving you a helpful tip.

You're probably thinking about having the kids make their own 100 necklace.  Here's what I do to make this project easier.

The majority of Kinders can't count out 100 cereal rings by themselves.  So I've made a "mat" of 10 circles that they can put 10 rings on each one.  (Great opportunity to reinforce counting by 10s!)

Then you give them a "needle" with their yard of yarn string.  We all know what happens when little fingers try to shove yarn through a little hole.  The whole thing becomes a massive frayed and tangled mess.  But take a paper clip, unbend it, and show them how to thread the yarn through the cereal holes, and it becomes "easy schmeasy"!
