Make It a Water Bottle Summer

Heard this bit of advice over the radio, and thought I'd share it.

This summer, before you and your family head out on that road trip, take the kids to the store and let them pick out their own water bottle. That way they'll know which one is theirs. Plus you're promoting the drinking of water over soda or other sugary drink.

One other thing: whenever possible, fill up with tap water from the sink or water fountain, rather than use commercially bottled water, because cities and towns infuse their water supply with fluoride,  which helps prevent tooth decay.

Road Trip Game: Spa-dittle!

A friend of mine taught me this game years ago, and I taught it to my two sons whenever we had to be on the road after dark. It's called "Spa-dittle", and it's easy. First person to spot the first car with only one headlight shining gets ice cream. The only rule is that we ALL have to see it, too, to verify. No cheating and saying, "Oh, it just turned the corner."

It's the Last Day of School!

As I have in the past, I will continue to post regularly during the summer. In the meantime, enjoy your vacation!

Stay Tuned!

I'm attending a ToTs and Technology Conference this weekend in Galveston, TX, where I hope to get some great ideas that I can share. Our school has neither interactive boards nor iPads, so this is my chance to catch up with what's now available for the classroom, and to see it in action!
